This past weekend marked a major milestone for me—I had the opportunity to DJ my first live event at the Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cookout in the heart of Avondale, Cincinnati. Hosted from 12–4 PM, this community event brought together families, friends, and church members for a day full of music, food, fun, and fellowship.

At first, I was nervous—afraid I’d accidentally repeat songs or miss the vibe—but once the music started flowing, the fear melted away. The crowd began dancing, the kids enjoyed bounce houses and face painting, and the food and shaved ice made it all even better. It felt amazing to use my passion for music to bring joy to others.
Shoutout to DJ SelfMade for lending us some gear and big thanks to Ebony J Media Learning Center for making this dream come true. Their hands-on youth DJ training program is teaching me not just how to DJ—but how to build a brand, gain experience, and create opportunities doing what I love.
Without this experience, I might still be stuck at a typical job—stressed and uninspired. But now, I’m building a future in entertainment and entrepreneurship.
