Media After School
Program
Our media after-school program is for youth ages 14-18 and is 8 weeks long. It focuses on three key aspects of media:
✅recording audio,
✅mixing music with DJ equipment,
✅and podcast creation.
The program provides students with a valuable opportunity to explore different areas of media and develop essential skills.

Working in our Hi Tek Studio is an aspect of the program that helps students develop creativity, communication skills, and teamwork. It also introduces them to the world of advertising and music production, providing them with a platform to express their ideas and build confidence.
Our Lincoln Ware DJ room introduces students to the art of DJing, fostering an appreciation for music and rhythm. It also encourages creativity and experimentation with different sounds and genres, helping them develop a diverse musical palette.
In the Ebony J Podcast room, students learn valuable communication and public speaking skills. It encourages critical thinking as they research topics and express their opinions. Additionally, podcasting promotes collaboration and teamwork as students work together to produce episodes.
What You'll Learn:
Writing Basics and Recording Techniques
The basics of writing scripts or lyrics, developing a creative concept, and planning a production. They will also gain experience in recording audio and, potentially, video, as well as editing and mixing their projects.
DJ and Music Mixing Techniques
How to use DJ equipment and software to create music mixes. They will explore the fundamentals of beat matching, song selection, and creating smooth transitions between tracks.
Podcast and Editing
Techniques
How to plan and produce a podcast episode, including selecting a topic, scripting, recording, and editing audio. They'll also explore techniques for engaging storytelling and audience interaction
