Not Just a Camp — A Lifeline: How We're Changing Lives Through Media

Every summer, camps pop up all over the city promising fun, games, and friendship. And while all of that is important, at the Ebony J Media Learning Center, our mission is deeper.
We’re not just filling time — we’re filling gaps.
We’re pouring into youth who’ve been:
Left behind by traditional systems
Silenced by trauma or circumstances
Lacking access to tools that could change their future
These are youth from low-income communities, many of whom have experienced instability, grief, and generational struggle. But when they walk into our program, they’re seen, heard, and empowered.
We teach media — but what we really teach is:
Confidence in their voice
Creativity as a superpower
Careers they didn’t know existed
Consistency and discipline through hands-on work
Whether they’re learning how to DJ, speak on a podcast, or create content, they’re learning how to tell their story — and how to own it.
Why We Need Your Help
This program is free or low-cost for the families we serve. But the cost of equipment, staffing, meals, transportation, and tools adds up quickly. We do this because we believe in impact over profit. But we can’t do it without you.
Here's How You Can Help:
Donate to sponsor a child for the summer
Provide meals, equipment, or transportation
Share this blog with someone who believes in youth empowerment
Partner with us to mentor, teach, or host a workshop
Every donation goes directly toward helping a young person find their voice, discover their purpose, and change their future.
You’re not just donating to a camp. You’re investing in a generation of leaders who will break cycles and build something bigger.
Donate today. Help us amplify the unheard.
